Got out for a few hours today in the late afternoon. Did I get anything? No, but I had them nearby at least. Sitting underneath a hemlock and I happened to look over and saw the flock walking up a woods road behind me about 75 yrds away. Did some clucking and purring and they turned around and milled around for about 5 min. I was hoping they would come down the logging road running parallel to me 28 yards out but alas, they cut thru the woods then. Counted 3 nice longbeards, 4 jakes, and  7 hens.

At least you have birds in the area. That's a good start.

agreed.  Went out Monday and didn't rouse a thing.
If I would have sat where I first planned but didn't cause of the wind, they would have walked right in.

Sounds like you are in the right place. Hopefully, it will just be a matter of time until you score. Good luck.

Lousy weather for the weekend. Rain, wind, upper 30's, but Monday it will be in the upper 50's and sunny. You'll know where I'll be then. I'll even take the wife's anniversary present with me and use it.
Matter in fact, we have snow this AM.

You guys are getting what we had yesterday. Boy if it isn't raining it's snowing or the wind blow you out of the woods. As soon as the season closes it'll be back to nice weather just wait and see.

I'm headed back out tomorrow afternoon, the weather is 'posed to break. Mid 40's and sunny is what they are calling for. Better than rain and low 30's. The birds should be wandering around.
Our season doesn't close til Nov 20th.

Went back out Mon. afternoon. Real nice day to enjoy the sunshine and the fall smells in the woods. Moved over with the one man chair blind to where the birds walked the  woods road the other day. Alas, wrong idea. Wasn't there 5 minn. and watched a tom walk down th other road and back into the woods just like thye did the other day. So the next time I go out, plan B, go light and get close to hi/their travel path they have been taking.
Neighbor popped a nice tom Mon. afternoon. His 1st adult bird in his life.

Went to plan B last Monday. That didn't help. Moved over 50 yards and went light. The ol tom walked thru on the next shelf down at 4pm around 75 yards away. He had somewheres to go or something on his mind cause there was no turning him. 5pm had 2 jakes sneak in on me. 35 or so yards away but came up on my left. Me being LH they saw me turning to get in position.
Went back out Tues, saw the flock walking just inside the woods headed away around 4:30. They kept right on going. Guess they weren't planning on roosting back in the woods that night.
Plan C, deer bow season is open.

Yup, went back out again Fri. afternoon. Got set up around 3:30 and waited. Toward evening it looked like it could start to rain at anytime. But I perservered and hung in there. Had my deke out @ 26 yards and kept an eye to the right cause that's where I have been seeing them come from but usually too far away or going in a different direction. 5:05pm looked to my left and already birds has wandered past the deke from the left. There was turkeys everywhere! After turning on the red dot and bringing the gun up, watched about 6-7 walk past the deke. Picked the 1st tom and downed him. 40 yards and down. Tried for another on my right but missed, plus he was walking quite fast to get out of the area. After getting my bird and looking it over, it had 4 beards. Not a bad shot for a 20 ga. Ithaca Storm. That's 7 toms accredited to that gun.

Let's try this again. Resized by 50% now.
Eggshell, thanks for the kind words. It's not easy being a hunter and sitting out there all the time.   How right you are to be sitting out there frustrated cause the birds are where you can't hunt, going the opposite way, or too far away.
Monday afternoon I hope they wander back thru. Taking the wife out for her 1st bird.
