I would take away rifles in the fall season here in Pa. It's
dangerous and IMO takes away from what turkey hunting is about.

Add a one week fall season over the state in which hens were legal. We have a fall season now for some counties, but it is gobblers only.

I have one:

All states:  No turkey call may be used inside a vehicle in pursuit of wild turkeys, a hunter must have two feet firmly planted on the ground (not the floorboard of his/her vehicle) prior to implementing any turkey sound.  ie. a hunter may not use the inside of his/her vehilce as an echo chamber when calling wild turkeys.  The hunter must be a minimum of 10 feet from his/her vehicle prior to striking his or her turkey call.   A squeeky door hinge does not constitute a legal turkey call.  Cutting a hole in your exhaust pipe to induce a "shock gobble"  does not constitute a legal turkey call (tailgate slamming is still legal).

Have a spring season that is longer then 5 days, or open it up to state wide.

Give us a two bird limit in the spring, extend our fall shotgun by two more days to incorporate at least one weekend, or if they would'nt do that, don't make us buy the fall shotgun permit and act like us being forced to spend more money is somehow doing us a favor.

Wow Scott, only a 5 day season in WI?......that doesn't give you a whole lot of room for error......

No it dosen't, that's one reason our kill ratio is only 24% on a good year. The weather useally messes up at least 2 days out of the 5, or if you can only hunt weekends that gives you a 2 day season . They could at least make it a 2 week season .

I hate to sound greedy, but two gobbler tags are not enough.  As soon as you get in the groove, you are tagged out.  Calling for others is satisfying, but not like tagging (& eating) your own bird.

I plan to find out about the turkey hunting up in Virginia, as they get 3 tagsper year.  Added to the two tags here in N.C., 5 birds would almost satisfy my turkey hunting jones. I'll bet that finding a good place to hunt will be tricky.

Jim, how long is your season? Do you have to spread those two NC birds out over the entire season (one each week?) or is it two birds anytime and out?

Our season is about a month long.  You could tag out in two days if you were able.  I like to take one early (first few days if I have a good one located) to get the monkey off my back, then sit back and watch a lot to see what I can learn or see what other birds are still around. The hunting is usually best around the third week of season.  I have messed around and not used both tags because I waited too long or found the birds not willing to play my game.

Every day it gets closer.

My request would be for tags to be required for turkey season. I realize that doesn't keep people that want to from going over the limit but most everywhere I hunt except my state (Georgia) you have to have tags .

Our limit is 3 although I would not object to 4 (for me at least)

I'd like to see Ohio allow the spring hunter to carry over the unused tags of spring into the fall . Either way it's a three bird per calender year limit. Even if it required the purchase of a fall tag , to be filled before the carry over tags could be used .

Another $.02 is I'd like to see the deer seasons lengthened . Not necessarily in consecutive weeks , but additional weekend hunts on into january . This would open up lots of opportunities for a lot of people , reduce overpopulated deer , in certain counties .

The people making decisions have moved our statewide primitive season from between christmas and new year to the week after new years . This will elliminate a bunch of hunters which have gone back to work , whereas in the past many have the week off from christmas through the new year.

I don't get it !

When does your season start, how long does it last, and how many deer tags do you get?  I think the primitive weapons season ought to come in before firearms, not after.  I mean, how tough are they trying to make it if the deer population is not being controlled by regular hunting?

Archery begins the last week of september and runs through the last of jan or first of feb.Closes during the statewide regular gun season .

There is an early primitive season on 3 designated areas in the state . This is in October , the third week I think .

Regular statewide gun season is the first monday after thanksgiving and runs 7 days . And then two weeks later , another 2 day (weekend) gun season . There is also a 2 day youth season that is just before the regular gun season.

For many years the primitive statewide season was wed - sat . Then sunday hunting was legalized and it became thurs - sunday.  This was also after the new year holiday . Then they moved it to the week between christmas and new year . This was always a good time to hunt , generally weather was good , and lots of people were off work for the holidays.

Some parts of the state allows 6 deer , only one antlered deer per season , regardless of method taken .

Archery is longbow , recurve  , compound and crossbows . 40# - 200#
primitive seasons ,,,,38 caliber and larger , firing a single ball/bullet.
Regular gun season,,,,410 -10 ga. not capable of holding more than 3 shells.  Handguns ,,,357 mag and larger ,,,with a straightwalled case.
Muzzleloaders can be used during the regular gun season.

No centerfire cartridge rifles permitted.

I live in Pa. Where during the fall you can use rifles to hunt turkey. I would like to see that changed to shotgun and bow only. And I would also like to see all day hunting in the spring instead of haveing to stop at noon.

Wait! Thats two things. Guess I can't count. LOL!
